Independent Music Teachers Forum (IMTF) exists for the purpose of serving music teachers who maintain their own studios, and are responsible for establishing their own curriculum, policies, and tuition. IMTF’s goals are:
- To investigate the role of independent, professional music teachers in American society today.
- To study the problems, advantages, and practices of this group.
- To increase public awareness of the importance of selecting well-trained, skillful, dedicated teachers.
- To encourage consistently high standards and professionalism among independent music teachers.
