FEES: $15.00 per test. (Each student may only take 1 test level per year. Students may skip levels if the teacher feels a student is able.) Pay using our online payment portal or make the check payable to RMTA. Teachers must make one payment for their entire studio. Do not send the payment portal link to your students to pay individually!
POSTMARK DEADLINE: refer to calendar of events (any application received after the postmark deadline will not be accepted.)
SPECIAL THEORY TEST GUIDELINES:
- Theory and sight-reading testing are in person
- The tests are not based on school grade, but on musical level.
- Students may skip levels if the teacher feels a student is able. A student may begin at any level the teacher chooses. A student who fails a test does not need to re-take that test the following year if the teacher feels he/she is able to pass a different level. Students may only take one test per year.
- It is presumed that the knowledge required for these tests is cumulative, and the tests may include questions based on materials required from previous years.
- Tests will be rotated on a two-year basis with a yearly change in examples, but not in questions.
- Grading is as follows:
| SUPERIOR | 95-100 | Seal and blue ribbon |
| EXCELLENT | 88-94 | Seal and red ribbon |
| VERY GOOD | 81-87 | Seal and green ribbon |
| GOOD | 75-80 | Seal |
| PASS | 70-74 | No Seal |
| FAIL | Below 70 | No certificate |
